Stephen H. Carson, MD
Dr. Stephen Carson has been practicing pediatrics for 33 years and supervises the Asthma and Allergy Management Program of Children’s Healthcare Medical Associates.
Dr. Carson earned his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, where he was awarded the Alexander Stewart prize in Medicine in 1976. He completed his internship and residency program at Children’s Hospital in Boston and completed his fellowship training at Harvard University School of Medicine. Dr. Carson went on to serve as chief resident in pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine, and is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology.
Dr. Carson is widely published in both basic science and clinical research, and served as the medical director of UC San Diego School of Medicine’s pediatric teaching program at Scripps Mercy Hospital from 1980 until 1992. Dr. Carson remains on faculty at UC San Diego as an associate clinical professor.
Dr. Carson is busy working on several local and national initiatives to help physicians (especially pediatricians) adopt electronic health records in their offices. This effort will extend to our Children’s Healthcare office over the next year.
Dr. Carson's son David works locally as a teacher of children with special needs. His daughter Lauren is a high risk obstetrical nurse at Sharp Mary Birch. Dr. Carson and his wife Linda (who enjoys working in the CHMA business office) love spending time with their grandchildren Madison and Brynlee.
